Engineering to MBA to Cyber Security Consultant

After completing my MBA - General Management, working as a consultant in a big firm such as Deloitte helped me explore all the domains in Information Security in a structured manner. I worked in Identity Access Management briefly, then shifted to Compliance and Regulatory assessments for Technology firms and Health industry. This upskilled me with various Industry Regulation ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, HIPAA, FedRAMP, etc. Finally I found my interest maximized in Cloud Security domain. With an emerging cloud security practice in Deloitte I got to work with biggest clients and varied strategy and implementation projects. From the implementation of Dome9 tool to Cloud Security Responsibility assessments for a major CSP to advising on 5-year strategy plans to tech giants, it was a enriching journey. In order to specialize in Cloud Security and learn the workings of a Product Company, I started my role as Senior Cloud Security Engineer in Micron.

Developing and automating Cloud Security Monitoring for my company

The experience at Micron has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. I have been able to showcase my honed skills as well as encouraged to work out of my comfort zone to upskill in various tools and languages. I got the exposure to work in all three major CSPs and this is not something widely seen in the industry. I worked on IaaC languages such as Terraform, server less functions on AWS, Azure and GCP and CSPM tool implementations. I have also worked on DevOps tools and pipelines helping me understand the full cycle of DevSecOps and automating Infrastructure Deployment.

Every day is a new opportunity to pass or learn (fail)

Micron provides a great team culture for innovating and automations. Innovations are not only supported but awarded across the firm. We have various competitions and seminars with participation from all regional entities of Micron fostering common curiosity to innovate and automate as much as possible. I also got the opportunity to work on AR/VR headsets and create with technology that is rarely seen in offices in India.

Never get overwhelmed with the idea of new technologies and tools

Our industry is everchanging and adapting to its new needs in the face of emerging technologies and tools. A new technology becomes widely popular majorly because it is easy for clients to pick up and learn. Hence, never get overwhelmed with the idea of new technologies and tools. They have been created to make our life easier, not the other way round.
